Body Braces, Supports, Orthoses

In addition to our podiatrists who may utilise the benefits of foot orthotics (insoles), our clinical team also proudly welcomes Tom Woods – graduate Prosthetist and Orthotist – who can provide functional help on any part of the body.

What are Prosthetics and Orthoses?

In terms of a broad definition: Prosthetics are replacement limb devices; Orthoses are Body Braces and Supports.

Tom is a highly specialist practitioner with a first class honours degree in the discipline of Prosthetics and Orthotics. He has gained his knowledge and experience providing clinical services for some of the most prestigious hospitals across the country, including Kings College Hospital London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt “Gobowen” Orthopaedic Hospital.

Treating GB's finest athletes

Tom provided orthotic services to the British Para-cycling team during the run up the 2016 Rio Paralympic games.

The custom made carbon fibre ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) that Tom provided enabled their athletes to achieve goals that were previously unobtainable, including world records and goal medals.

As an example, Megan Giglia MBE is pictured below, winning her first gold medal and world record at the UCI track paracycling world championships in 2016, using the orthosis that Tom prescribed!
